[CMCNews] Happy 2008 from Catherine Marie Charlton!

Hello Catherine Marie Charlton Fans:

It has been quite a while since the last mailing and I'd like to update
you on some important CMC 2007 happenings plus some things to look forward
to in 2008.

1) First and foremost, I am proud to announce the launch of a totally
revamped CMC website. Catherine has slaved away to get this ready for
public viewing…Be sure to visit her at
http://www.catherinemariecharlton.com to check out the new design.

2) STRANGE ATTRACTORS: After several years of having extremely limited
(basically no) copies of Catherine's debut album from 1995, Strange
Attractors, we finally have unearthed several cases of brand new perfect
condition Strange Attractors CD's. Quantities are limited and it is
unlikely that any more releases of this CD will be "pressed." We are
offering them at a SPECIAL price of $7.50. Please follow the following
link to learn more and purchase:

http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/charlton95/from/riverdawn

This CD really emphasizes Catherine's amazing talent and features many
math inspired pieces
composed while Catherine was completing her engineering degree at Cornell.

3) This month, Catherine released her first music video. The music video
is for "Canyon" from her album, "The Undershore". This video features
Catherine's photography from Puerto Rico, Hawaii, and Maryland along with
her Steinway and her Hang drum. After almost 6 years, Catherine is
parting with her Hang drum. The E-bay auction for this item is scheduled
to end on January 31. Catherine hopes that funds raised from this auction
will be sufficient to finish the studio recordings that her longtime
percussionist, J. Jody Janetta (www.jjodyjanetta.com), and she started in
2007. You can hear excerpts of "The Lonely Cobbler" from this recording
session at Catherine's new website.

On Sunday, February 3, Catherine will be performing 2 solo piano concerts
at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA, at Noon and 2pm. In addition
to her own compositions, Catherine will be performing Chopin's Nocturne in
Db Major during both performances. Catherine promises to finish her
performance in plenty of time for you to get home to watch the Superbowl!

Please go to http://www.catherinemariecharlton.com to see other upcoming
performance dates.

Thank you,

Adam, The List Manager

Successful "Whisperings Appearance" at Winter NAMM 2008

Anaheim, CA: On Saturday, January 19, 2008, seven Whisperings pianists joined together at the Galileo Music Exhibit of the 2008 Winter NAMM Show in Anaheim, California for the first annual NAMM Whisperings Artist Appearance. Pianists David Nevue, Joe Yamada, Louis Landon, Joe Bongiorno, Catherine Marie Charlton, Michele McLaughlin, and Gary Girouard each performed a few compositions during the Appearance, and held a giveaway of autographed CDs from over 30 Whisperings artists. The NAMM Show is the largest music products trade show in the United States. Held every January in Anaheim, the show brings together all facets of the music products industry to reveal new musical instruments, products, and ideas.
"This was a great opportunity to share Whisperings piano solos with music industry professionals," said Whisperings pianist Joe Yamada. "To have that kind of presence at an international music event like Winter NAMM was incredible exposure for the station and undoubtedly will increase the recognition and listenership of Whisperings Solo Piano Radio."
Nearly 80,000 NAMM members and their guests attend the Winter NAMM Show each year.
"The NAMM Show is always so loud and chaotic... the piano music (at the Whisperings appearance) rejuvenated my soul," said one new Whisperings fan who had never heard of SoloPianoRadio.com until the NAMM show.
Throughout the rest of the NAMM Show, Whisperings visited various piano exhibits to demo some of the new top of the line pianos. Favorites included the Kawai "Shigeru VII" and the Bosendorfer Model 280. Late Saturday afternoon, Whisperings visited the Kawai Exhibit and five Whisperings artists performed on five Kawai "Shigeru Series" grand pianos simultaneously.
Whisperings participation with the 2008 Winter NAMM Show was very well received. It marked the beginning of an annual Whisperings presence at future Winter NAMM Shows in Anaheim.
Special thanks to the Galileo Music Corporation for sponsoring the First Annual NAMM Whisperings Artist Appearance

January 2008 Update from Matthew Tavis Johnson

Hi everyone! I hope this finds everyone doing very well, and having
enjoyed the holiday season. In this newsletter I will be covering the
following –

The BIG news - 'Light' will be coming out in February!

- 'LIGHT' ALBUM NEWS, DETAILS, ETC.
- 'ESALEN MOON' ALBUM DETAILS
- SHEET MUSIC RELEASE SCHEDULE

'LIGHT' Album details…..

It is almost time! 'Light' will be releasing this February, and I'm
am very excited about it. I had originally recorded what I was
expecting to be the final draft last March, but after a lot of
listening and thinking, I decided it wasn't quite complete. I went
back into the studio last month to record some new music designed to
'complete' the Light album, and that is exactly what happened! After
some tracks being removed and others inserted, the 'Light' album is
ready to go. This album are tracks all composed by me, and overall is
supposed to be a bit more light hearted and happy than my previous
albums, hence the name "Light". =) Here is what it looks like -

'Light' Album track list –

1. And Then the Light Comes
2. Through Time
3. Like A Dream
4. Spiral Dance
5. Inside I'm Crying
6. Final Fantasy
7. Macy's Lullaby
8. Please Find Me
9. Broken
10. Peace Bridge Theme
11. The Side That Believes
12. 24
13. Reassurance
14. 'Dark' Transition
15. Peace

Please look forward to the release, please write if you have any
questions about it!

Father and Son album - Esalen Moon Joint CD news….

Coming up soon here Whisperings pianist David Rhys-Johnson and I will
be doing a CD Project together called Esalen Moon which will be a
compilation of 7 of my most popular tracks taken from the albums
'Reach for the Sky', 'Walk With Me', and 2 tracks from the new album
'Light', and also 6 new original tracks from David Rhys-Johnson
intended strictly for this album. If you are a fan of my music but
have yet to buy an album of mine this would be a great starting point;
you'll get a few of the top tracks from each of my albums that have
been released, as well as experience the amazing talent and style of
pianist David. More details on this to come.

Sheet music release plans….

Sheet music will be available soon! I get requests for new sheet
music constantly but haven't been able to get any new transcriptions
produced. Every song on the "Reach for the Sky" album has now had
sheet music requests, and my plan is to ultimately have EVERY album
transcribed. For now I am going in order of popularity until I am
able to have them all transcribed. Here is what it looks like right
now –

February – March 08':

'Sad Again' from 'Reach for the Sky'.
'Spiral Dance' from 'Light'.

May – June 08':

Two more pieces, which two is still undecided.

If I can get the sheet music released earlier, I definitely will, and
will let everyone know!
To keep updated with what's going on, check by my site
matthewtavisjohnson.com every so often.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and has a very happy new year!!!

Take care everyone,
